In today’s world, more and more people are realizing that financial literacy is an essential part of a successful life. Under the slogan «A financially literate client is the key to timely fulfillment of credit obligations», LLP «Microfinance Organization “Asian Credit Fund”» (ACF) regularly organizes training sessions for its clients. Special emphasis is placed on improving financial literacy among clients living in rural regions of Kazakhstan.
The first financial literacy trainings started on June 5, 2023, covering residents of the Turkestan, Kyzylorda, and Zhambyl regions. During the training, ACF representatives explained the principles of financial planning, which allow individuals to manage their budgets effectively and control expenses, and also encouraged residents to take a responsible approach to borrowing.
Speakers from the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market paid special attention to issues of digital literacy. Residents were warned about the most common fraud schemes, including cases of personal data theft through phishing websites, as well as scammers impersonating bank security services or buyers to fraudulently obtain loans.«If your personal and payment data fall into the hands of cybercriminals, they can hack your online or mobile banking and fraudulently take out loans in your name. You can identify unauthorized loans by regularly checking your credit history, at least once per quarter. A personal credit report can be obtained from the State Credit Bureau, the First Credit Bureau, Public Service Centers, or through the egov.kz portal», representatives of the Agency warned.
Representatives of the «Unified Accumulative Pension Fund» JSC also participated in the training sessions, informing attendees about Kazakhstan’s pension system, how to effectively manage pension savings, what voluntary pension contributions are, and how to transfer savings to asset management companies.
In total, from June 5 to June 30, 2023, 13 trainings were conducted, covering 580 participants. Following the events, residents shared their impressions and received individual consultations on the proper use of credit products and the settlement of overdue debts.
The next financial literacy training events will be held from August 14 to October 4, 2023, for residents of the Abai, East Kazakhstan, Zhetysu, Almaty, Akmola, Karaganda, and Ulytau regions.
